Diamond Cut: The Dazzle Is in this Detail
DEFINITION: Often confused with shape (i.e. round, princess, heart, etc.), the cut refers to the level of quality achieved by the diamond cutter in taking a dull raw diamond and transforming it into a brilliant sparkling gem. It is ultimately responsible for the level of brilliance a diamond possesses—and thus its impact on the eye of the beholder!
TERMINOLOGY: When the cut of a diamond is discussed, it is classified as one of the following grades:

| ideal | |
| premium | |
| very good | |
| good | |
| fair/poor |
How this affects your decision:
A diamond cutter may spend hours using special tools to achieve a perfect and harmonious geometric balance among all of the faces of a raw stone. When a diamond is cut properly, a ray of light enters the heart of the stone and gets refracted and scattered into a galaxy of light and colours which we call the sparkle. The better the cut, the more dazzling the diamond.
Please keep in mind that the cut of a diamond is affected by its natural formation as well as the skill and technique of the person doing the cutting. So, generally speaking, the higher the grade of cut, the more value the diamond will fetch. Gold Craft Jewellers only offers diamonds of the finest cuts: ideal, premium, very good or good graded cut.
